Forgetting Curve (Ebbinghaus)

The Forgetting Curve hypothesizes the loss of memory and retention of information over time.

From 1880 to 1885, Hermann Ebbinghaus ran a limited, incomplete study on himself and published his hypothesis in 1885. During the study, he aimed to memorize consonant and vowel combinations. This study has since been under scrutiny because it had a sample size of 1 (Ebbinghaus himself) and was based on information that had no meaning or no reason to be retained.
